Patrick Walsh – Curriculum Vitae

Although Patrick Walsh uses a camera for her artistic work, not think of himself as a photographer, or he would call the resulting pieces "photography". Instead, Walsh approaches his work as a painter might, with a color camera itself. Camera the brush strokes and photographs are the Photomosaics: Large-scale consideration of the people, places and things that are filtered through the camera lens, then the pieces together. Final results – flattened images that show us just what we perceive in our peripheral vision – became much deeper and wider than the sum of their original parts.

Walsh, who studied graphic design and advertising at the Parsons School of Design in his native New York, who painted as a hobby, he created his first piece of more than thirty years ago, when he was location-scouting for feature film. He discovered a place that could not be captured in one image. So, he shot a lot, using Kodak instant camera, photos and stapled together. Result intrigued him and Walsh soon discovered that making deliberate forays into the desert southwest and along the Pacific Coast windy find subjects for their art.

Whenever Walsh pieces together countless photos, which recorded a single image, says a new story. His themes are as varied as Dennis Connor's boat at first, empty baseball Stadium, desert or green rainforest. And although the final result may feel spontaneous, but the process is something, "says Walsh. Each location is carefully considered, returned, and the work is thoroughly thought out before Walsh opens his hood to get images.

For example, a piece commissioned for the Los Angeles Dodgers – photomosaic of the empty stadium – Walsh shot 26 rolls of film a piece that proved to be 11 feet long. Commission, which led to other things, the Baltimore Orioles. The resulting 7 meters long photomosaic new Camden Yards was placed on the ball club reception for all the games Star. Both works are now hanging in the stadiums' private clubs.

Once the film is shot, Walsh shapes experience with photos. "I am creating compositions with many photos and have these pictures here will be a beautiful all by itself. I give it to the mixture. The overall impression is depending on me, "said Walsh." I want you to step into the picture, it's like a window. I want you feel that you are there. "

In addition to his Photomosaics, Walsh has a successful career as a director and producer in the advertising industry. Won eight "Clios," four "Cannes Lions," nominated for Emmy and over 300 other industries, including awards two films in MOMA's permanent collection.

Walsh is a director member of the Director Guild of America
and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmy).

It is hard to imagine anyone’’s everyday life without photography being involved in some way, from passport photographs, to publicity, postcards, magazines and art galleries. Photography is one of the most pervasive media and consequently difficult to grasp as a single thing. Associated with both science and art from its beginning, photography crosses many boundaries and, with the advent of digital imaging and manipulation, it has extended its presence even further. This book boils down the massive territory of photography to the key genres, discussing each in turn to show how they have become even more relevant in today’’s dynamic cultural and technological context. Illustrated with a range of historical and contemporary images and case material, this book is essential reading for anyone interested in photography.
