What happened to Deuteronomy 8?

"Thou shalt not make for yourself a graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the waters under the earth. "For centuries it was normal and accepted part of Islamic law. Essentially, this meant that the graphic reprentation something prohibited. There should be no portraits, landscapes, no, no illustrations for books, but still life painting, no photograph, film or television. No plans for building or technology. Muslim artists and artezans was limited to the use geometric patterns to decorate textiles, ceramics and architechure. I remember as recently as recently as 1994 Muslim Taliban footsoldiers will be door to door in Afghanistan to smash televisions, burn newspapers, magazines, posters and pictures on the back side of this commandment. Now the procession of their posters imams in the street and show videos of himself on the Internet. What has changed?

It is still haram (prohibited) for Muslims, according to numerous stories of the prophet. Most of the pictures you see are in countries though Shia Sunni countries have some of them. Only his ignorance, but really many Muslims still maintain it. Christianity not surprisingly, since the specific Roman Emperor decided that it will be ok. Previous to that it was forbidden in all Christian places too
